Everyone loves their own child and their accomplishments and I am no exception to that statement. My son, Josh, gave his famous person speech today in front of a full cafeteria of parents and classmates and he nailed it! Of course this is spoken like a true mom who just adores her only son, but what made it so nice is that another parent noticed it too and sent my husband and me an e-mail about it.

Wow! How impressed I was with this woman’s acknowledgement of my son’s 60 second speech about St. Francis of Assisi. She even congratulated him after the event was complete. Her action made me sit back and realize that this act of random kindness, which took only a few minutes to do, will last a lifetime.

How many times do we do small things for others, like smile at people when they make eye contact and say hello, or help a struggling mom with a fussy baby, offer your chair to an elderly person when its standing room only, or give a colleague a compliment on a job well done. Do we ever think that an act as small as that can make a difference?

Obviously, in my case it did today. Like the words of Mother Teresa, “We cannot do great things on this Earth, only small things with great love.” What a great gift of love that mother gave to me and my family today. A small and wonderful gift that will be remembered forever when we reminisce about Josh’s Famous Person Speech.

What small act of random kindness can you do for someone today? Just something to think about on this two cup of coffee Monday morning.

Thanks for following and make it a great day!  Theresa
